M. Johnson called the Board of Health Meeting to order at 4:10 PM

MEETING MINUTES:
  • September 18, 2012:  B. Penino requested that ‘M. Johnson be changed to M. Ricker called the meeting to order’.  No quorum to vote.  Tabled to next meeting.

OTHER BUSINESS:
  • B. Penino Report:  Attended the MAHB Certification Program Meeting on November 3, 2012, and reported that it was a worthwhile meeting.  He also submitted a registration form and invoice.

TOBACCO CONTROL REGULATIONS:
Karyn Johnson, WDPH, distributed the ‘Sample Regulation Restricting the Sale of Tobacco Products and Nicotine Delivery Products’ policy checklist for the Boards review and discussion.

The Board will review and create a checklist, and get back to Karyn Johnson for another meeting when M. Ricker is present.

K. Johnson will send A. Crete a revised ‘Sample By-law’.  To be a topic on the next meetings agenda.

CENTRAL MA REGIONAL PUBLIC HEALTH ALLIANCE:  Derek Brindisi, WDPH, discussed the January 1st medical marijuana laws.  Only five sites per county are allowed.  Up until January 1st, there are 120 days where it is legal for the public to grow marijuana at home.  After that an individual will have to file for a hardship.  The police will have the ultimate authority for checking during those 120 days.  A doctor’s note will also be required.

POLICE DEPARTMENT KIOSK:  There is a sharp disposal kiosk at the police department, with a clipping device that gets rid of the puncture part of the needles.
